Top Five Films for a Feel Good Friday

It’s the freakin’ weekend baby I’m about to have me some fun…By watching hilarious, moving and totally adorable films whilst stuffing my face with every piece of junk food known to man! And theses here are my best films for a Friday night.

If you’re trying to be healthy, but still want and treat then check out my healthy treats recipe pages.

So let’s get started, what’s on the playlist...

1.     13 Going on 30

If Mark Ruffalo *swoon* isn’t enough to entice you, then how about a silly, heart warming, ‘be careful what you wish for’ rom-com? I absolutely adore Jennifer Garner and the 80’s throwback soundtrack will have you dancing around with pillows and chocolate smears on your face. Guaranteed.

2.     Pride and Prejudice

If Colin Firth in a dripping wet white shirt isn’t enough to entice you then…. what am I saying of course it is. But if you’re a die-hard Austen fan like myself, you’ll agree this is a pretty good adaptation of a wonderfully funny, romantic novel. In terms of feel good films, this has to be pretty high on everybody's lists. I'd settle for the Keira Knightley version too. To be honest i'd settle for two hours of just Mr Darcy wandering around, doing his thang...

3.     White Chicks

When I watch this film I do nothing but laugh at the ridiculous antics that two black guys dressed up as white girls get up to. It’s light-hearted, a bit slap stick and perfect for a fun Friday night in.

4.     Howls Moving Castle

Or Spirited Away. Or pretty much any Studio Ghibli film you can get your hands on. With a Friday Movie Marathon you have to have a deep and meaningful animated masterpiece in the collection. Spice up your Friday night with a beautiful, exciting, fantastical adventure film like these. Definitely in my top films for any night of the week actually.

5.     The Pursuit of Happyness

Probably one you’d want to watch first so you have the ridiculousness of White Chicks or that scene with Mr Darcy to lighten the mood. It’s one of my favourite feel good films, with a message that says, ‘You can do anything, never give up.’

So go! Go now!! Stop reading this and cuddle up on the sofa with a huge duvet, too much food and a great film.

My Cute Pets

I am an animal lover! I love animals. Ever since I was a tiny little chubby child and could read, the books I used to read were about animals. This was my favourite Christmas present of all time. The Kingfisher Animal Encyclopedia.

I read a lot when I was little. I could get through bookshelves a week.

I have pet mice...

For all the squeaky squealers out there, I know it’s hard to understand but they are absolutely beautiful, funny and intelligent little creatures.

Both my brother, sister and mum are pretty petrified of mice. But even they’ve come to admit what sweet little creatures they are.

My mouse, Squishy, sleeping peacefully :3

They are the sweetest, cutest, cleverest, funniest, (and cheapest!) pets ever. Here are my cute pets, my sweet meeces.

Sleeping mice are probably the cutest sleeping animals ever, Marjorie

I rescue my mice from the local Pet Rescue because if there is one thing you will get to know about me, it’s that I’m the biggest softie for animals around.

If I were smart enough I’m sure I’d have been a Vet. And I hate to see all those beautiful little bunnies, smart rats, cute guinea pigs and sweet mice waiting for their forever home when I can offer them one! Once I have the time I’ll rescue dogs, rescue puppies, rescue cats... Poor little abandoned animals!

My mum and sister have four dogs, a rabbit and a cat. Though I don’t live with my momma, I still think of all the pets as mine since I grew up with most of them. Hazel is my rabbit and isn’t she just a darling? (Hazel is actually a boy rabbit who was mis-sexed as a girl. We soon realised she was a he when a huge pair of balls popped out of no where) But she/he still suits a pink bow don’t you think?

My sweet little rabbit with a bow draped over her neck as she leans out for a fuss

If any of you have rabbits, do your rabbits make a very odd buzzing sound when they get excited? Hazel does, she buzzes until somebody gives her a cuddle!

Anyway, what pets do you have? Do you think you’d ever consider rescuing animals?

Top Three Tips for Clearer Skin

I was dressed and ready for school one morning waiting at the door with my little sister who turned to me and said,

“I could play dot to do on your forehead. Hehehehe!”

That is exactly what a teenage girl needed to hear before school.

And of course, it doesn’t matter how much mum or anyone else tells you,

“You shouldn’t worry, everyone gets them!” because even if the whole school had acne, we’d all still be completely hell bent on getting rid of it ASAP.

And we all know that at one point we’re going to have a honking great squeezer on the tip our nose, that makes going to school with a paper bag on our head sound way more appealing than hearing all those totally original comments of “Rudolph is here early this year!” and “What time is zit?”

Sometimes there really is nothing you can do but give a sassy finger click in their direction and wait for puberty to hit them.

Because spots are an inevitable fact of life.

But there are a few things I’ve found you can do to limit the time you spend with these unwanted friends.

1.  Eat Good Food

An obvious one. But I’ll narrow it down for you,

- Fish Oils. This is my favourite daily supplement that keeps my skin soft, nourished and spot free. And at £5 it’s pretty much a bargain you can’t miss. Remember it’s the DHA and EPA that matters when choosing a fish oil supplement, the higher the better.

- Green Veg. Is actually easy for me because I love broccoli and spinach. So I tend to incorporate it into my meals. But if you don’t then check out some of my recipes for good skin that hide greens nicely!

- Porridge. Is the lifesaver food for my skin. Quite often when you get bad skin it’s hormonal. You can really sort your hormones out and reign them back in if you have stable blood sugars and having a bowl of porridge in the morning keeps your blood sugars stable and therefore your hormones stable. Porridge with a sprinkle of blueberries, raspberries and honey is my favourite. For an extra boost of vitamins sprinkle some Flaxseed on too.

- Eggs. Contain a lot of vitamin D, which is awesome for great skin. Plus if you have eggs for breakfast, like porridge, it will keep you fuller for longer!

- Probiotic Drink. Good bowels, good bacteria, good skin. Plus they are delicious!

2.  Wash, Tone, Moisturise

I use Clinique mainly; mixing and matching to my preference for my skin type really and haven’t had a skin meltdown since I started using it.

My Wash – Witch Pore Minimising Gel, £1.50 Asda

My Toner – Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clarifying Lotion, £18.00 Boots

My Moisturiser – Clinique Moisture Surge, £34.00 Boots

It’s important to do each step, cleanse your face of dirt, close the pores and remove excess oils, then keep your skin baby soft with the moisturiser. You don’t have to use Clinique, it’s just what I found worked for me, and it last absolutely ages so it costs me far less now.

But I have to admit this is an important factor...

... I don’t wash my face everyday.
"The daily face washers scream in disgust at Georgia's revelation"

I know I know, lots of you will totally disagree or go “eewwww” at that thought. But really, your skin is so delicate, so important and full of good bacteria, which manage themselves quite well without our input. I read somewhere that if you wash with too hot water or wash too much you can damage your skin and strip it of its oils, causing your skin to become dry, overproduce oil and you’ll just get all those spots back. And they’ll bring friends too.

If I haven’t put make up on, I’ll won’t wash my face twice a day like I used to, because I’m certain that’s what made my skin worse. Why not try it at the weekend? One morning, just look at your beautiful face in the mirror, brush your teeth and go on out!

3.  Drink Water and Green Tea

As a rule I try to have a glass of green tea every other day because it’s actually disgusting.

But so good for you! I drink the lemon infused green tea as it takes away the horrible taste. And only let it brew for three minutes, any more and your mouth with feel like you’ve swallowed sand it’s so dry and bitter.

Lastly, it’s been said a lot. So listen up!

Drink lots of water.

Dehydrated skin = bad skin.

Carry a bottle around with you, in your bag and sip at it throughout the day, try and drink two or three.

I guarantee your skin will see results if you follow even two out of three of these, because my forehead, though large, is no longer dotty...

Throwing Shapes

My name is Georgia, I’m 22 and I’m a writer in the big city!

I guess I can say that?

Maybe not… I’ve written a few articles for magazines, Blogs and Newspapers, but nothing really noteworthy. I like to write in my spare time and I’d love to make writing my career in the future but life has a funny way of changing its’ tune so you end up dancing out of time and looking like a complete fool…it never goes the way you want it to does it?

I love animals - especially mice, they are so darn cute!

I like to rescue needy little meeces and give them a loving home. I’m sure I’ll post plenty of cute mouse pictures in the future, as well as cute dog pictures, cat pictures, rabbit pictures and maybe even the odd fish since my family have all these animals too.

As well as loads of animals, I have a huge family. Four sisters and a brother! And I am the middle child. The wonderful, favourite, middle child…

I love music, make-up, clothes, movies, food, cooking, anime and manga, cosplaying, gaming, reading and plenty of other things that all add a little bit to making up who I am, but don’t define me.

So after that little bit about of me, I hope you feel compelled to read on. Find out a little more and get to know me.

This blog will contain anything and everything in it. From my own little stories, to my own cool hacks, reviews and vlogs about the daily trials and tribulations of a girl trying to learn the routine, the steps, the dance to life. There will be plenty of laughs, (mostly at my expense) and you might learn something too… (Like how not to sit an exam. Or how not to go on a first date…)

I hope you stick around for the rest of the story. I think you’d like it, because really aren’t we are all just throwing shapes on the dance floor of life?
